Capacity Building for Media Practitioners on SRHR of PWDs

Spread the love

In order to increase public awareness and discourse on Access to Health for women and girls with disabilities, as well as to popularize the National Policy on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights of Persons with Disabilities with Emphasis on Women and Girls, DRAC organized a 2-Day training for media practitioners under her Making it Work Project funded by Voice Nigeria.

Sexual and Reproductive Health is an essential component of health and a pillar for sustainable development, however, the SRHR needs of PWDs especially women and girls with disabilities have been neglected due to discrimination, negative attitude of service providers, widespread negative stereotypes especially negative representation by the media.

DRAC called on the media to properly represent persons with disabilities in their reportage and eliminate every form of negative stereotype.
