DRAC in collaboration with the federal ministry of health developed a National Policy on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights of Persons with Disabilities with Emphasis on Women and Girls which was launched on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 alongside other Sexual and Reproductive Health documents.
WHY THE POLICY
To foster partnership and collaboration among key stakeholders and build capacity for advocacy, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation of Sexual and Reproductive Health Programs for persons with disabilities.
The policy will create an avenue for the meaningful involvement, empowerment and participation of persons with disabilities in design, implementation and evaluation of reproductive health programs and other issues affecting them.
WHAT THE POLICY WILL ACHIEVE
Increased awareness on Women with Disabilities Sexual and Reproductive Health, improved access to SRH Services, Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities, Partnership, collaboration, capacity building, research, and monitoring and evaluation of PWD SRH.
