Break the Cycle

A multi-year project aimed at empowering Women and Girls with Disabilities.
Funded by UK Aid and Implemented by CBM and DRAC.

DRAC is delighted to be consistently receiving the astounding support of community leaders in the 6 Area Councils of the FCT and Karu in Nasarawa State, as we embark on our community entry visits to introduce the Village Savings and Loan Association (VSLA) scheme under the Break the Cycle Project (BTC) which is funded by UKAid through CBM.

Community stakeholders continue to demonstrate commitment and enthusiasm towards the mobilization and orientation of project beneficiaries to ensure that the VSLA is a success in their communities.

We are excited that the women and girls with disabilities who are the main beneficiaries of this VSLA scheme have the unflinching support of the community stakeholders where they live.

A major thrust of our work is community based, to this end DRAC is pleased to announce the successful completion of the Life Skills Sessions for WGWD.

A series of self-building sessions, consisting of basic skills for personal and social development which will help women with disabilities (WWD) and girls with disabilities (GWD) in coping with the challenges they face.

Through these sessions that were held in the six area councils of the FCT and Karu local government, WWD and GWD learnt better ways to communicate with others, develop their self-esteem, learn to take responsibilities for their actions and make informed choices and decisions.

These skills will help the GWD to resist peer pressure as they learn how to accept themselves for who they are.
